Glamour and Benefit have done it again....!!!

(sorry for the crappy iphone picture - but I wanted to let you guys know fast!)

Hi readers...anyone still here??

Still not quite finished uni yet so blogging is still taking a back seat but I just wanted to post a quick one telling you guys about Glamour magazine's give away this month!!

Yes they have done it again - they are giving away benefit goodies again! This time they are giving away three of the cheek/lips stains - bene-tint, posie-tint and high beam (all sample sizes)!!

I've always wanted to try out benefits tints so I wasn't going to let this opportunity pass by and ran (well I drove) to the nearest co-op and picked up three copies of Glamour to get all samples - and yes the guy on the till gave me that funny look and probably thought I was mad. Lets face it I could of explained but he wouldn't of understood! But £6 for £28 worth of benefit goodies I don't care what he thought!!
Although my advice is go and get them fast as every time Glamour does a benefit giveaway they sell out fast!
What are you waiting for.....!!

Sorry for the quick post and the lack of blogging lately but my last exam is on the 15th June so I'll be back soon!

Hope everyone is does well and having a lovely week

I'm back!!! :)

(Sorry for the crappy iPhone photo and the fact my eyes look weird. I’m still getting used to taking picture on my phone!)

Hi everyone!!

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A!! I’ve been finishing my university dissertation over the last few month, its been the biggest priority in my life for sooo long now, but I will be handing in my finished project on Tuesday...so the blogging will resume back to normal after that! Which i’m really happy about because I’ve got lots of ideas and new pieces I want to blog about!

Hope everyone is happy and well! Did everyone watch the royal wedding? Kate looked beautiful didn’t she? I celebrated by having a tea party round a friend’s house and drinking coffee (because I don’t like tea lol!) from my royal wedding mug! (hence the weird photo above!)

Hopefully I still have some readers left after my long absence! Look forward to all the new posts coming soon!

Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend (again!) :)

17's Lasting Fix Nail Polish - Woo Me and Forever

(Woo me)
(Forever)

On a recent trip into boots I spied 17’s new range of nail polish colours from their Spring Vintage Love Limited Edition collection! I picked up two of the colours Woo Me – a light lilac colour and Forever – nude/caramel colour!
I absolute love these colours as they are perfect for the spring and would really like to try the other colours from the collection! The only thing putting me off however is the consistency of the polish. I found it quite difficult to apply and had to apply 2-3 coats to get the finished look as the first coat was streaky! Although for the price (£2.99) you get what you pay for, and for beautiful colours I may put up with the quality of the polish!
At moment Boots are offering 3 for 2 on all 17 cosmetics, so I think I might pick up three more which will give a gorgeous range of colours to wear for spring and summer!
Have you tried anything from the 17’s Spring Vintage Love collection? What would you recommend?
Hope you are having a lovely week! I’m off to do lots of university work, wish me luck!

Wish List

I've been looking at loads of Sigma Brushes reviews and trying to make my mind up on whether I should buy them! I really hate the fact you can only purchase them online because I like to have a feel for brushes before I buy, and its a lot of money to waste if I don't like them!
I have a few MAC brushes and I really like them but as a poor student I really can't afford to buy all the brushes I would like, so I would hope Sigma was a cheaper, yet still good quality alternative!

I'll let you know I take the leap of faith and buy them. Have you tried Sigma Brushes? What did you think?

Hope you have had a good weekend

NOTD - Sephora by OPI - On Stage

(Wearing only one coat of polish)

One of the nail polishes I picked up in New York - On Stage by Sephora by OPI

I was desperate for the colour Metro Chick, but they had sold out :( so I picked up this little beauty!

I love the colour, its a gorgeous dirty purple colour which is perfect for wearing in the day and I've had a few compliments on it too :)

Hope your having a lovely Saturday

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

Again something I’ve heard a lot about - the Covergirl mascaras!  So when I was in New York I picked up this!

It’s a great mascara if you want a curl and lengthening. It holds a curl really well in my lashes which is amazing as mine as so stubborn and straight! I’m always after curly lashes and I achieve it with this mascara, although I do find sometime it can look a little clumpy and heavy!
I don’t think I will worry about repurchasing the Covergirl mascara because the Maxfactor’s False Lash Effect does the exact same job and it’s easier to get hold of in the UK!
I’ve just brought the new Maybelline One by One mascara so except a review soon!
Hope your having a lovely week

I like it, but I it exactly the same as Maxfactor’s False Lash Effect! I believe (or I think I heard somewhere) they are made by the same company, which explains why the packaging looks the same and I get the same effect from the Covergirl mascara as I do with the Maxfactor’s False Lash Effect.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3 Day Straight

I have thick wavy hair, but not a nice beach wave it more of a wavy, frizzy mess so I’m always straighten my hair just to make my hair look more even and neat, and all that heat everyday can’t be good for anyone’s hair!
So when I saw this in Boots about a week ago I thought I would try it, if it means I only have to straighten my hair every 3 days or after every wash (every other day) instead of every day!
The idea is to use on damp hair, blow-dry and use straighteners to set the hair for the next 3 days
The results.........
Day 1 – this was after blow drying and straightening my hair. I was really impressed how soft my hair was and how easy it was to straighten my hair!
Day 2 – As you can see I had a kink in the back of my hair from where I slept funny, so I did need to bring out the straightens before leaving the house, however I was still impressed that I didn’t need to straighten the whole of my hair.
Day 3 – I still had a bit of a wave in my hair when I woke up but it gave my hair a more natural straight look (if that make sense) instead of poker straight which I really liked, it’s the way I would like my hair to look after I blow-dried my hair.
I think overall I like it! I knew it wasn’t going to be a miracle spray making my hair completely straight everyday because of course when you sleep on your hair you will get a kink to it, however that fact I didn’t have to straighten my whole head of hair everyday means there was a lot less heat on my hair – which is always good! Plus it made my hair feel really soft!
Anyone else tried the 3 day straight spray, what did you think?
Hope you had a good weekend

EOS Lip Balm

I’ve notice these lip balms a couple of times in the beauty blogging community, so when I saw these in a drugstore in New York I thought would pick one up!
I honestly thought it would be just a gimmick lip balm and wouldn’t be that good, but I actually find myself reaching for it all the time. It’s really moisturizing, smells lovely, its organic and natural, plus I’m enjoying all the weird looks I get when I’m applying because of the strange egg shape!
I will definitely be repurchasing and I found a place where I can buy in the UK! (Follow the LINK)
Hope you had a good day

Nars Haul (from Sephora)

(Top – Orgasm Blush, Bottom – Deep Throat Blush, Sheer Glow Foundation in Ceylan, Turkish Delight lipgloss)

(Swatches L-R = Turkish Delight Lipgloss, Deep Throat Blush, Orgasm Blush)

Slowly but surely I’m blogging about the goodies I got in New York and this blog post is dedicated Nars…

I was really excited to get my hands on some Nars goodies as I live no where near a Nars cosmetic counter! I’ve heard sooo much about Nars, especially their Sheer Glow foundation that I really wanted to try it. And I know I could order online, but I’m always afraid  at buying foundation online and getting the colour correct.

So while I was in Sephora I ask one of the make-up artists to skin-match me. It turns out that I am the colour Ceylan…I’m really glad I got probably matched as I thought I was the shade Barcelona, which would have been way too dark for me!

So as you can tell I brought Nars Sheer-Glow Foundation in Ceylan, 2 Nars blushes in Deep Throat and Orgasm and the famous Nars lip-gloss in Turkish Delight.

All these purchases came from recommendations from beauty blogs and vlogs and I’m pretty pleased with all of them!

Nars Sheer-Glow foundation
is by far my favourite purchase! I love this foundation it’s the perfect
glowing finish with a meduim coverage and I will definitely be purchasing it again when it runs out!
Deep Throat Blush
My favourite out of the two blushes I got. It’s a gorgeous pink colour that can be
buildable for the desired look. The texture is lovely and soft to blend.
Orgasm Blush
This colour is ok but I feel it doesn’t suit me that well as the shade has a red undertone
that I feel highlights my red acne scaring my cheeks. However on the days where the redness looks less
angry I might feel differently about it.
Turkish Delight Lipgloss
The perfect everyday lipgloss, although sometimes can appear to look too
milky looking if I apply too much on which looks a little odd. But applied correctly is the perfect baby pink
glossy lip.

I can’t wait to re-order my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation online, where I can pick up some more Nars
goodies to try – any recommendations???

Hope you have had a lovely weekend

Kat Von D – Love and Fury (Sephora Eyeshadow Palette)

(Taken with Flash)

Back the New York Haul…….

Whilst wondering around Sephora I spied the Kat Von D section. I’ve never heard that Kat Von D released her own make-up collection, so I was intrigued to find out how good it was so I picked myself up one of her eyeshadow palettes.

For those of you who don’t know who Kat Von D is, she is a famous tattoo artist who stars in the American show LA Ink, known for her amazing artist talent and gorgeous gothic/rock style, and her make-up collection mimics this!

The majority of my eyeshadows are neutrals and browns so I went for dark and silver palette that I though would be fun to use and experiment with for smoky eye looks.

The palette contains four silvery colours and four dark colours, three out of the eight shadows are cream eyeshadows which are actually really nice and soft to manage! And all the colours are really pigmented, I was pleasantly surprised! I’m a bit gutted that I didn’t pick up so more of the collection!

Has anyone else seen or used any of the Kat Von D collection?

Hope you have had a good weekend

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

I have heard sooooo much about Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, it’s labelled as a must have by most beauty gurus!

And because of this horrible bitter cold weather I’ve been desperate to try anything to sooth my dry skin, so when I was walking past the Elizabeth Arden counter at John Lewis I remembered the Eight Hour Cream was apparently amazing!

I was a little surprised at the smell and texture of the cream (being called a cream I was expecting the average moisturizing cream), however it’s a thick almost gel like cream.

But the beauty bloggers couldn’t have been more right!

It has really helped my dry patches of skin and is even brilliant for dry, chapped lips! With most moisturizers I’ve tried I’ve had to keep constantly applying before the skin starts to feel softer, but with this I can apply once or twice before noticing a difference in the condition of my skin.

It’s so great that it has found a little home in my handbag, so I can apply throughout the day if I need it, plus I have heard it’s great for burns, etc.

Have you tried the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream? What do you think?

Hope your having a lovely Sunday

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

For me it’s a ritual to buy a perfume in duty-free at the airport every time I go on holiday and this time I chose this little beauty…..

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

It smells beautiful! Obviously this doesn’t help in describing the actual scent so I have carried out my research and found what fragrance notes are in this gorgeous perfume from basenotes.net

The top notes; Bergamot and Tea.
The middle notes; Jasmine, Freesia, Orchid.
The base notes are; Centiflora, Rose, Patchouli.

I have never smelt a perfume like this before, I usually lean towards sweeter scents that most people find too sickly sweet, and although this smells sweet I would describe it as almost a more grown-up toned down sweet scent….if that makes any sense at all?

Its a perfect daytime scent but I have notice that it hasn't got much longevity, which is why I also picked up the rollerball verison in this scent to keep in my handbag.

I hate that we can't get rollerball perfumes in the UK, they are perfect sizes for your handbag to top up your perfume during the day instead of carrying around a huge bottle of perfume in your bag! They also make a good perfume tester, to see whether you like the scent before spending loads of money on the full sized bottle! I wonder if there is a website where you can get rollerball perfumes?...I'm off to do my research, I will let you know if I find one!

Has anyone else smelt this perfume? What’s your opinion?

Hope you having a good day

New York Wish List

As some of you may know I'm celebrating my 21st birthday by going to New York!! :) Im sooo excited!

When watching/reading American blogger I’m always envious of some of the products they rave about that are only available in the USA, so since I found out that I was going to New York I started compiling a wish list of just a few of the make-up goodies that I want to get my hands on when I’m over there!
Revlon Colourburst lipstick in Soft Nude – I was really excited when Revlon release their colourburst lipstick range, but I was gutted that the shade Soft Nude was only available in the US. I may have to pick up a few for backups.
Victoria Secret Body Mist – I love body mists and I’ve heard the Victoria Secret mists smell really good.
Make-Up Forever HD Foundation – Make-Up Forever is only available in the UK from a professional make-up artist website, I’ve often thought about second guessing my shade and ordering online but while I’m over in the states I might as well get skin matched so I don’t waste money on getting the wrong shade.
Covergirl Lashblast Mascara – An American brand famous for their mascara, although I’ve heard its basically the same of maybelline’s false lash effect mascara I still want to give it a go.
Cetaphil – Every American blogger has mentioned the Cetaphil skincare brand so I want to see what all the hype is about.
Nars Sheerglow Foundation – You’re probably thinking this is a strange item on my wish list because you can get Nars in the UK, however I live nowhere near a Nars counter. So if I find a Nars counter in New York I’ll be asking a skin match, even if I just find what shade I am, then I can order in online when I get back home.
Eos Lipbalm – Heard so much about this lip balm plus with its unique packaging, it’s something I’ll really want to pick up.
Sephora by OPI nail varnish – Enough said! I can’t wait to visit Sephora!!! I’ve warned the boyfriend that I will spend ages in this store :)
Korres Lip Butter – Again, another lip balm popular among the American bloggers.
Rimmel Lipstick in Airy Fairy – Although Rimmel is an English brand for some reason the shade Airy Fairy is only available in US and after loads of blogger blogged about the perfect pink shade I will defiantly be pick up 1 or 2.
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils – I know these are now more available to the UK online, but they will be cheaper in the US, I’ve heard they are great eyes shadow bases.
Is there anything else you can recommend getting or going to while I'm in New York?
Hope your having a great week

Here's to a brand new start...

Happy New Year Everyone!
I thought I would make my first post of the year a list of my new year’s resolutions in the hope that writing them in a post will make me stick to them! *fingers crossed*
I only like to make 3 resolutions, as having too many means more chance a failing to keep them
So this New Year’s resolutions for 2011 are:
Be Happy and Some Fun – I’m now about to start my second term of my final year at university and this New Year’s resolution is just to remind me to not get too stressed out and remember to have a little (and I mean a little, I won’t have much spare time) bit a fun, because after all this is my last year to be a student.
Keep an eye on things – This year I’m not going to stress myself with trying to lose loads of weight, instead I’m just going to keep a careful eye on what I eat and make sure I’m maker healthy choices. I’m also going to keep an eye on my money and learn to budget more. I spent way too much last year on things I don’t really need, and now I’m paying for it; having to pay my mum back money and not having as much money I as I would like to have to take away with me to New York (only 9 days to go! I’m beyond excited!!!!!)
And of course...blog more – I’ve lost count the amount of times I have had to apologise for not regular updating my blog, and I believe it’s the main reason why my blog hasn’t got many followers (although I thank the readers that do read my blog!) I really enjoy blogging about my make-up obsession but I never seem to have enough time in the day to sit down and write proper post, but I have now decided to put by two evening a week where I can spend an hour or so sharing my make-up and beauty reviews and news. Plus I think it will save my poor friends and family having to listen about make-up all day and I can share it with readers who share my same obsession.
And another extra New Year’s resolution is – take a photo everyday. I love looking at people’s photo diaries and thought the 1st January was a perfect time to start my own. So except weekly photo updates too.
Have you got any New Year’s resolutions?
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
